What finally remains in life are not our wishes and desires but the law of nature. If man were to acknowledge this reality, he would spare himself from the pangs of anger, complaint, protest and violence. Accept reality, and you are bound to enjoy a stress- and tension-free life. What are stress and tension? Stress is a feeling of excessive demands on one’s physical and mental energy, and tension is a feeling of mental strain. Why do these ills afflict people? Stress is not a naturally occurring problem. It is a problem created by individuals themselves. Be ready to accept reality. And then you will undoubtedly be able to enjoy a stress-free life. Perhaps, in most cases, it is because they want to live their lives according to their way of thinking, without considering the external world’s existence. Its demands must be met; otherwise, you will fall prey to that form of negativity, which is generally referred to as stress. It is essential not to be over-ambitious but preferably to be a realist. If you are over-ambitious, you will become a victim of tension. It is only if you set yourself achievable goals that you will be able to lead a tension-free life.
I will narrate two stories, one from the East and the other from the West. The world is divided into East and West.
The story from East is about GRD Tata. In India, GRD Tata made great progress in industry.
What happened when he became old?
In Delhi, Justice Khanna is a retired judge. He said when GRD Tata became old, he would come to him for legal advice.
In his old days, Tata said: Moolya to kha chuka ab byaj per ji raha hun. He said his body had no strength and that he was only dragging himself. This he explained in these words: Moolya to kha chuka ab byaj per ji raha hun.
A person who attained the top-most position in India, died in the end by saying that he was leaving the world without anything. He had no knowledge of what was going to happen ahead.
The second example is that of Billy Graham, who was bed-ridden towards the end of his life.
He once received an urgent message from a big billionaire. When he reached the billionaire's mansion, he was taken to a room which had two chairs. Billy Graham was seated in one chair and the billionaire in the other.
The billionaire said: You see I am an old man. Life has lost all meaning. I am going to take a fateful leap into the unknown. Young man can you give me a ray of hope?
This is the condition of every person. Why is this happening?
They don’t know the formula that better life will come in the future and not in the present. These people searched for a better life in the present world although it was to be had in the next world. The result of this contradiction leads to tension and stress.
