The Quran uses the term 'sabr' for patience. Patience is summum bonum, or the greatest good. If you do not have patience, you have nothing. You will not be able to do anything. In this world, you have to lead a collective life. You have to live with others. Here, every man is Mr Different and every woman in Ms Different.
You have to live in the midst of different people. So, every time unpleasant situations are created. Every time , you will have to face something against yourself. If you are not patient, you will get provoked. You may start fighting and you may develop hatred for others. You cannot do anything in such a state of mind. This is why patience is a must. For any kind of work, secular or religious, patience is essential. Patience keeps you in a normal state of mind. Patience prevents you from wasting your energy. The benefit of patience is that you do not get deviated from your target or goal. This is why patience is essential for a purposeful person. A purposeless person can do anything he wants. A purposeful person has to necessarily be patient. He must possess the virtue of patience.
