The Quran lays entire emphasis on addressing the mind of an individual. The Quran does not speak about any 'system'. These days there is a lot of furore from Arab to non-Arab countries about establishing an Islamic system, Islamic political rule and Islamic laws. There is much enthusiasm about it. There is news in the media on this subject on a daily basis.
Where the Quran mentions fasting, it says: شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِّنَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالْفُرْقَانِ (2:185)
That is, "The month of Ramadan is the month when the Quran was sent down as guidance for mankind with clear proofs of guidance and the criterion by which to distinguish right from wrong." (2:185)
The Quran then says: "Therefore, whoever of you is present in that month, let him fast." Here, it is important to reflect on the connection between Ramadan and the Quran.
In other words, what is the relation between fasting and the Quran?
This is something over which we need to ponder. If we undestand this, we will be able to realize the wisdom of fasting during Ramadan. The answer to this question lies in reading the Quran. You should read the Quran once from A to Z only to know the message given by the Quran. You will realize that the Quran lays entire emphasis on addressing the mind of an individual. The Quran does not speak about any 'system'. These days there is a lot of furore from Arab to non-Arab countries about establishing an Islamic system, Islamic political rule and Islamic laws. There is much enthusiasm about it. There is news in the media on this subject on a daily basis.
But Islam has nothing to do with this political edition of its teachings. Whoever has doubts in this regard should read the Quran once only to know the scheme of things laid down in the Quran. You will see that the whole Quran is about addressing the mind of an individual. The Quran urges the reader to think and to reform himself. That is, the entire message of the Quran is individual-based. The Quranic message is definitely not system-based
