There is no such thing as 'traditional Islam', nor is 'modern Islam' anything. The only necessity is to redefine Islam, re-interpret it and re-apply it.
We are not presenting a 'modern Islam' to people. We do not speak of a 'liberal' version of Islam. We are re-defining the same Islam and giving a re-interpretation of it. We are not doing anything else. It is very easy for people to understand this. Whether it be my ideas or somebody else's, you need to judge them on the basis of the Quran and the Hadith. You should not judge on any other criterion.
I provide reference from the Quran and the Hadith for everything I say. Even today I quoted a tradition from Bukhari: "God will surely help this religion by means of a secular person." You need to judge what I said on the basis of this reference. You need to go back and re-check the reference I cited. 

I don’t do oratory, rather I give reference for everything from the Quran and the Hadith. You need to judge what I say on this basis. Why has God given you intelligence? It is so that you can judge and understand matters properly. You will definitely have to utilize your mind, or else how will you attain a higher level of God-realization and intellectual development?
So, it is a very simple matter. If a person speaks without reference, you should ask him to provide arguments from the Quran and the Hadith. If he cites reference, then, you must go and re-check it in the Quran and the Hadith. If the reference is correct, you should accept what the person said. 
It is a very simple formula: if a person speaks without giving any reference, then ask for reference from him. And, if he does provide reference, then confirm it once again from the Quran and the Hadith. 
If your mind and heart bear witness that what someone has said is indeed true and that he has only re-applied Islamic teaching, then accept his words.
