A reformer has said, 'Nature abhors uniformity.' This means that this world is a world of differences. Differences are a part of nature, and anything that is a part of nature is unalterable. Therefore, we have to accept it without trying to change it. As we cannot eliminate differences, we have no option but to learn the art of difference management by tolerating differences. Tolerance is not a passive attitude. Tolerance is an amalgam of noble values, such as exercising patience, giving respect to others, forbearance, deep wisdom, and the willingness to co-exist with others. We have to tolerate differences and learn to manage them in the right way.
The principle of life is that if differences are managed, they will lead to development. If differences are not managed, the result will be a breakdown. Therefore, instead of reacting to differences, one should manage them wisely. The difference is not evil: it has a great positive value. The difference is a challenge. Difference awakens the mind. Difference invites discussion and dialogue.
Moreover, dialogue and discussion lead to intellectual development. Difference saves us from being a victim of intellectual stagnation. There is a saying: "If all think alike, no one thinks very much." This saying aptly explains the value of difference.
