Maulana Wahiduddin Khan I Speaking Tree Website I March 02, 2015Percy Bysshe Shelly (d. 1822), the famous English poet, wrote: "Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought."Why is this the case?It is because most people think that life is a tragedy for them. They do not get all that they want. Consciously or otherwise, they consider themselves failures. And so, when they hear a song that speaks of pain or read a tragic story, their deep-rooted feeling of deprivation leads them to think that it is their own voice that is speaking. They think that the song or the story is a completely realistic depiction of life. On the other hand, when they listen to a happy song or read a happy story, the psyche that they have developed drives them to think, consciously or otherwise, that it is an unrealistic portrayal of life. [Highlight1] Why is it that many people have developed this sort of mindset? It is because they plan their lives without understanding the Creation Plan of God. They hanker after such things that, according to God's Creation Plan, are simply unattainable in this world. This is the real reason for this psyche of theirs.According to God's Creation Plan, in this world human beings can obtain only according to their needs, not more than this. So, if you remain content with what you really need, you can save yourself from the psyche of deprivation and despair. In line with God's Creation Plan, in this world you should want only so much as you require for your needs. Anything beyond your needs should be regarded as something that will be available in the Hereafter. This is the only way to lead a peaceful life in this world.
