Maulana Wahiduddin Khan I Speaking Tree Website I Monday, March 3, 2014Until thought is linked with purpose, there is no intelligent accomplishment - this principle is very important. It is a fact that aimlessness is a vice, while a purposeful life is the greatest virtue. Everyone is full of potentials. But only those persons can unfold their potentials who adopt a purposeful target for their struggle.Everyone knows this fact, and everyone tries to achieve their purpose. But it is also a fact that people mostly fail to achieve their target and die in frustration. The reason behind this tragedy is that people generally fail to differentiate between the achievable target and the unachievable target. Generally, people follow their ambitions, while the fact is that the external world does not follow our ambition. The external world has its own laws, it is not governed by our ambitions. [Highlight1] Some reformers have said that it is good to follow a purposeful life with the condition that your purpose be a legitimate purpose. This condition seems to be an ideal condition. However, in terms of practical wisdom it is not. The fact is that our world is the world of differences. Everyone tries to achieve his goal. This situation has created a clash of interests. This situation requires that we should be selective rather than being idealists. Our ideal is bound to clash with the ideals of others. In such a situation, we have to be practical, we have to take into consideration what is achievable for us and what is not. We have to set a goal that is achievable for us and not that kind of goal which we cherish however is not practically achievable. When you choose a career in job, business, politics or any other field, don't follow your ambitions. Any goal that is set by simply following ambitions is not a goal, it is nothing but a dream. Don't be a dreamer, but be a practical person.
